"Key-Value" User Group Targeting
What is “Key-Value” targeting we hear you ask? Well it is two things.
It is the ability to target ads to users when the log in to your site
with according to whatever profile data you hold on them. Secondly, it
is the ability to target users according to site search criterias. We
will look at this scenario first.
Let’s take the example of a travel portal. On the home page there are
several drop down boxes to help you search for your holiday; choices
like destination, date range, family holidayor adventure holiday. More
often than not, often additional criteria like age and sex are also
required. With “Key-value” targeting, the travel portal will be able to
target ads according to any combination of the drop downs that are
selected. If you want to target men interested in travelling to
Australia for an adventure holiday - you can.
The same system can be used to target the profiles of your users.
Let’s say that to register on your site users need let you know their age and maybe their geographical location. With “Key-Values” – these now become targeting criteria for you to use. You can now target all 31-40 year olds in the London area that are registered on your site with relevant ads. Another example might be a gambling site which tries to aggregate all the deals for online gambling. Once an account has been opened, surely you would like to target the user with ads from the accounts he had not opened – With Key-values this becomes more than possible.
